Reposted from Walking Dead ‘Cast, which you can find at: https://podcastica.com/podcast/the-cast-of-us — Ben and Alex are back one last time to close the book on The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3, turning the microphones over to the Zedheads for their thoughts on the finale, “Tenebrae,” and the season as a whole. This week, they dig into a huge batch of listener feedback while revisiting Maggie and Negan’s remarkable evolution, Hershel’s transformation into one of the season’s biggest surprises, the impact of characters like Luis, Renata and Dillard, and why the seemingly disconnected pieces of the season ultimately came together to tell a much bigger story. Along the way, they unpack some fantastic callbacks and symbolism listeners caught, debate what a potential Season 4 could look like, and speculate about whether Dead City could eventually become a meeting point for characters from across the larger Walking Dead universe. Most importantly, Ben and Alex take some time to thank everyone who watched, listened, wrote in, called, theorized, disagreed, overthought things and went off on countless tangents with them throughout the season. The Dead City coverage may be finished for now, but the Zedheads made this season one hell of a ride. And yes... there are still plenty of completely unnecessary tangents along the way. Next up: Jason and Lucy return with the WD rewatch! It’s TWD S7E2 “The Well”. Let us know your thoughts! You can email or send a voice message to talk@podcastica.com. Reposted from Wax Episodic, which you can find at: https://podcastica.com/podcast/wax-episodic — Wow, this slow-burn show picked up the pace in the second half of season three, and we’re totally digging it (pun!). Thrilling to see so many questions answered, and new ones raised, and to find out that the final season isn’t too far away — July 9, 2007! Join Jason, Veronica, and Amelie as we get into all the details of the second half of Silo season 3, maybe our favorite segment of this series so far. Also on Wax Episodic: We cover these other intelligent, engaging, oftentimes delightfully twisted series: Severance (Apple TV): A mind-bending show where office workers’ minds are severed into two selves, one that exists only at work, and the other only outside. It’s beautiful, brilliant, funny, gripping, mysterious, thrilling, thought-provoking, and meticulously crafted in every way. Hosted by Jason and Karen’s innies. Fallout (Amazon): A crazy retro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic melange of wholesomeness and depravity. One of the best looking shows on TV, funny as hell, violent AF (but in a cartoony way), with a great cast, including Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) and Walton Goggins (The White Lotus, The Righteous Gemstones). Not to be missed! Hosted by Jason, Kara, and Kasi. Pluribus (Apple TV): Everyone is transformed into a pleasant hive mind — except for Carol (Rhea Seehorn), the most miserable woman on the planet, who must save the world from happiness. It sounds weird, and it is… in the best way. Created by the great Vince Gilligan, of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Hosted by Jason and Karen. IT: Welcome to Derry (HBO): A fun, scary, and surprisingly great prequel to the 2016 and 2019 IT movies, with Pennywise stalking the children of 1962 Derry. A mix of heart, mystery, charm, and some shockingly disturbing Nightmare on Elm Street-esque horror. Cohosted by Shawn of Strange Indeed. Alien: Earth (FX): From the brilliant Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion), this one really scratches that sci-fi itch. A greedy corporate tech overlord transfers the consciousness of a group of terminally ill children into highly performant synth bodies. And the Xenomorph is in it, too. Also, Tim Olyphant! Reposted from Walking Dead ‘Cast, which you can find at: https://podcastica.com/podcast/the-cast-of-us — Ben and Alex are back to break down The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 finale, Episode 8, “Tenebrae,” as Maggie, Negan and Hershel fight to take back Manhattan and one of the strongest seasons of Dead City yet comes to a close. This week, they dive into the final showdown with Dillard, Hershel stepping into his own as a leader, and the huge emotional payoff to Maggie and Negan’s evolving relationship. They also discuss how seemingly every piece of Season 3 ultimately mattered, Maggie finally embracing the kind of leader she can become, and why the finale feels less like the end of a story and more like a soft reboot launching Dead City into something much bigger. Plus, plenty of listener feedback on “Hourglass,” thoughts on Season 3 as a whole, speculation about where Maggie and Negan could go from here, and whether the show may finally be positioning itself to reconnect with the larger Walking Dead universe. Reposted from Wax Episodic, which you can find at: https://podcastica.com/podcast/wax-episodic — Compulsory nude figure drawing, a sudden orbital vaporizing laser, and a hi-tech, futuristic slaughterhouse are just a few of the things that made this episode odd as hell, but never dull! As I (Jason) mentioned on the podcast, the plan is to go on hiatus for awhile, and come back for the new HBO show, Lanterns, premiering August 16. Lanterns is an upcoming new superhero/detective series, but I’m most excited about it because of where it’s airing (because HBO has been producing high-quality shows for years), and also the kick-ass bunch of creators and actors who are involved: Lanterns is headed up by Damon Lindelof (LOST, The Leftovers, Watchmen), Chris Mundy (Ozark, True Detective), and Tom King (Mister Miracle, The Vision), stars Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline), Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge), and co-stars Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Castle). Premise: Green Lanterns are intergalactic peacekeepers who wear rings that give them extraordinary powers. The series follows experienced Lantern Hal Jordan and new recruit John Stewart as they investigate a murder in Rushville, Nebraska, which Jordan believes is an extraterrestrial incident and leads them to darker mysteries and reckonings. P.S. There’s a chance we’ll be back with a surprise or two before Lanterns. Either way keep us in your feed and we’ll talk to you soon! This week, they dive into Dillard’s transformation into the threat hiding in plain sight, Renata’s struggle to hold onto her ideals, and some of the strongest Maggie and Negan material Dead City has given us yet. They also discuss how “Genesis” changes the way they view Maggie and Negan’s relationship, Negan’s surprising vulnerability and desire for Maggie to find her happy ending, Maggie’s connection with Luis, and whether Dillard really is the season’s “big bad” or simply the latest test in a season where survival itself has been the real enemy.
