Sermon - The Messiah Trap

This week at HFC, Campbell Terry continued our series in the Gospel According to John with a message titled The Messiah Trap from John 7:53–8:11. In this powerful passage, we see religious leaders attempt to trap Jesus using the woman caught in adultery—forcing a tension between justice and mercy. Instead of falling into their scheme, Jesus exposes their hypocrisy and extends both truth and grace. This sermon reminds us how easy it is to weaponize righteousness while missing the heart of God, and how Jesus meets us not with condemnation, but with a call to transformation: “Go, and sin no more.”
