Happy 75th Birthday to Tom Petty! 10/20/25 My next guest was born in San Diego, California. He is an American musician notable for being the founding bassist for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers from 1976 to 1981. He returned to perform at the band's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and that reunion led to his return for the Summer 2002 tour. He was replacing the late great bassist, Howie Epstein.  He then helped finish The Last DJ album and was present for all subsequent albums and tours. Aside from The Heartbreakers, he has played on albums by Kirstin Candy, Stevie Nicks, Del Shannon, Slobberbone and The Tremblers. He was also part of the original line-up of The Dirty Knobs, Mike Campbell's side project as well as Mike's band, The Blue Stingray's recording album 'Surf n' Burn' in 1997. Since the passing of Tom Petty, he has been actively involved in music, perforning with The Chris Torres Band, playing and producing with LA Edwards. Currently he is working on his solo album and producing with so many other musicians.
