Wins over Consistency, Did Mark Martin Get it Right?

September 2, 2026·1h 13m
Episode Description from the Publisher

This week on Herm & Schrader, Ryan Preece's walk-off Daytona win to punch his ticket into the Chase, and trying to decipher on what the Wood Brothers meant about Josh Berry with a message that could have been a ‘backhanded compliment.’ They then turn to how Mark Martin’s ‘campaign’ to reward consistency over wins knocked SVG out of the Chase. The guys are also trying to figure out why Jimmie Johnson picked this moment to finally say something about Carson Hocevar with a post on X both complimenting – and criticizing Number 77 – and then, almost like he read it, Hocevar wrecked with 5 laps to go. The conversation turns to Denny Hamlin’s first-place-finish in the regular season and for the first time since the Chase began, NASCAR didn't give him a trophy for it -- so the Denny Bros 3D printed him one instead. Plus, a quick conversation as to whether or not Cleetus McFarland is actually ready for the Gateway Dome Nationals in St. Louis, Tom Cruise is back in the garage as Days of Thunder 2 looks like it might actually be happening, and of course the guys end the show on a high note with junky jokes.       Real fans wear Dirty Mo.
