We've just officially crossed the one-year mark with the baby, and if we've learned anything about fatherhood, it's that life moves fast, even when you're an older dad.     Crash Test Daddy: The "No-Imagination" Tea Party In our latest edition of Crash Test Daddy, we put the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Sweet Manners Tea Set to the test. Frank notes that this toy is fascinating because it practically takes the imagination out of the process with its realistic music and lights—making it a perfect parenting tool for dads who might need a little help in the "playing house" department. The set features multiple levels of play: Level 1: Basic sounds and counting (like those five "treats"). Level 2: Encourages manners and sharing "green tea". Level 3: Includes singing and role-playing prompts. Carlo's professional new dad advice? It's a hit. The pouring sounds are incredibly realistic, and even though it turns a tea party into a "diuretic" event, it gets two thumbs up.     Check, Please: The True Cost of Raising Kids For those following our Check, Please segment, Frank continues to keep an itemized bill for his daughter to "repay" when she turns 18. This isn't just dad humor; it's a real look at dad life and the financial side of raising kids. The Old Total (Oct 15th): $8,263. The New Total: $8,785. The Difference: A surprising $522 jump over four and a half months. Frank admits he's giving her a bit of a "deal" since they don't count gifts or Christmas items. However, with nearly $1,000 spent on diapers alone and a pricey new car seat on the horizon, that total is about to skyrocket.     The Silver Fox Mailbox & The "Cradlewise" Controversy Our Silver Fox Mailbox segment revealed some parenting comedy regarding the Cradlewise smart crib. While Frank "researched the hell" out of it and loves the tech, he's found a corner of Reddit and YouTube dedicated to hating the company. Despite the critics, Frank defends it "full force," though the baby is sadly about to size out of it as she starts peeking over the rails.     Milestones: Oinks, Growth Spurts, and "Grounding" The one-year checkup brought some classic funny parenting stories. The baby has officially developed a "piggy sound"—an aggressive, open-mouthed snort that she uses to greet strangers at Wegmans and fellow parishioners at Mass. Health Update: Growth: She's in the 75th percentile for height and 7th for weight. The "North Side Lean": Frank suspects her height might be even higher if she hadn't been leaning during the measurement. Iron Deficiency: A common issue for breastfed babies, they'll be supplementing with some beef and lamb meatballs soon. Finally, we discussed the "barefoot" phase. Much like Frank as a Gen X kid, the baby hates shoes.
