Gotta Watch’em All Podcast 152 Recording Date: 9/30/2026 Watch the video version of this podcast at: http://patreon.com/pokemonprofessor As we prepare to watch another episode of our beloved anime, we have high hopes that the crew will reach Goldenrod City. That was however, until Ken crushed their dreams with some factoids he found when researching this week’s show. While the last few episodes have some differences in release schedule compared to Japan, this one was a little different. While The Psychic Sidekick’s is the next episode that follows Forest Grumps, in the US, audiences had to wait two full months to see it, whereas those in Japan only had to wait a week. This episode lands right before the dreaded summer break, which was filled with two full months of reruns. With things back on track (albeit a bit delayed), the crew comes across a sign with a Trainer’s Tip that reads that Ghost Pokémon are in the nearby woods, and Psychic Type Pokémon are recommended for protection. The crew should have nothing to worry about as they can be protected by, Psyduck! OK, maybe that is wishful thinking, but at least we know there is at least one Psychic Pokémon with them. The crew curiously stumbles upon a Girafarig and its Trainer, Cherry. Most Trainers in the neighboring Len Town train Psychic Type Pokémon, with Cherry deciding to train Girafarig. The party initially thinks that Girafarig is a Ghost Pokémon, due to the way the head on its tail looks. Cherry helps them learn about her Pokémon, before challenging Ash to a battle. We get our first glimpse of Future Sight, which is played out in a pretty cool way. Pikachu does end up making easy work of Girafarig, though. Arriving at Len Town, we see Team Rocket up to no good, with a giant Gengar contraption that is scaring the townsfolk and kidnapping Pokémon. Because the giant fake Gengar is not actually a Ghost Pokémon, the Psychic attacks being hurled at it do nothing, and in fact, are mirrored back thanks to the fake Gengar’s mirrored eyes. After a prolonged battle, we see Girafarig and Pikachu Team up in an awesome way. Girafarig ends up using COnfusion on Pikachu, which allows him to essentially fly Pikachu around. Chetty and Girafarig begin to communicate psychically, and then it is time for another Future Sight, this one finally blasting off Team Rocket! This sidewinder episode was fun, but again didn’t have any impact on the journey to Goldenrod City. Who knows, maybe we will run into Cherry and Girafarig again down the road!
