Carolina answered before the intermission as Jordan Staal tied the game 1-1.The Hurricanes took control in the second period with a power-play goal from Andrei Svechnikov and a later tally from Sebastian Aho to build a 3-1 advantage. Svechnikov added his second power-play goal of the night with 8:52 remaining in regulation to extend Carolina's lead to 4-1.Dorofeyev scored his second goal of the game less than four minutes later, burying a loose puck created by a backhanded pass from Shea Theodore to cut the deficit to two. However, the Hurricanes held off the late push and secured a 4-2 victory in Game 5.
