On today's show I sat down with Max Engling, the Republican nominee for Indiana Secretary of State, who rose from a behind-the-scenes Senate staffer to statewide nominee in 31 days, winning the GOP convention in Fort Wayne with 53% on the second ballot. Engling shares moving from Illinois to Cicero, attending Ivy Tech and IUPUI while working long hours, and how debate helped shape his communication skills. He describes flying to Washington at 24 to hand out resumes, landing a role on the U.S. House Committee on House Administration, and later serving as director of member services for Speaker Kevin McCarthy. After returning to Indiana to raise his family, he ran in the 5th Congressional District, worked for Beck's Hybrids, and served as a senior advisor and agriculture liaison for Senator Jim Banks. Engling closes by outlining his priorities: election integrity, a public transparency portal, and addressing fraudulent "chameleon carrier" trucking LLCs.
