
Lynn Hernan, 61, trusted Jessy Kurczewski like a daughter, making her caretaker, power of attorney, and co-beneficiary of her estate. But after Lynn was found dead on October 3, 2018, in her Pewaukee, Wisconsin home, toxicology revealed a fatal level of tetrahydrozoline, the active ingredient in Visine eye drops, in her system. Investigators determined Kurczewski had loaded a water bottle with six bottles' worth of Visine and stolen more than $290,000 from Hernan before and after her death. In November 2023, Kurczewski was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of felony theft.
