Discover Ag Joins the Afterparty

Have you ever wondered what a woman in agriculture thinks about the reality dating show Farmer Wants a Wife? Tara Vander Dussen, co-host of the Discover Ag podcast, joined us for a special episode of Farmer Wants a Wife Afterparty to discuss the show from the perspective of a dairy farmer and environmental scientist. Vander Dussen and Natalie Kovarik host the Discover Ag podcast, where agriculture and pop culture meet. During Farmer Wants a Wife season, the co-hosts add a recap of each episode to their show. At first, Vander Dussen didn't have very high expectations for Season 4. "When the trailer came out, I'm not gonna lie, I was very skeptical that they were even farmers, and I had a lot to say," she said. "I do feel like this season I am kind of eating my words. I do think we truly have some very authentic farmers." Vander Dussen grew up on a dairy farm and previously worked as an environmental consultant for dairy farmers. Her husband runs a dairy farm. Vander Dussen enjoys watching Farmer Wants a Wife, though it doesn't always portray farm work accurately. "You have to let go of the technicality and just enjoy the show," Vander Dussen said.
