Good afternoon, I'm _ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening  The Tai-Ex opened up 36-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 47,142 on turnover of 8.5-billion N-T. The market ended lower on Tuesday, largely due to a lack of guidance from Wall Street, as U-S indices were closed on Monday for a holiday. The index initially posted solid gains, but soon turned lower, as investors opted to stay on the sidelines (保持觀望). However, market heavyweight Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing remained resilient (表現穩健的；有韌性的) and closed the day in positive territory, to stop the broader market from falling further. Man arrested for alleged hit-and-run killing of nurse Police in Taichung have arrested a man wanted in connection with a hit-and-run (肇事逃逸) incident that resulted in the death of a nurse. The case has been referred to prosecutors and the man is facing charges of homicide (殺人罪；致人死亡) and hit-and-run. The incident occured early Tuesday morning and closed circuit television footage has been aired on local TV news channels. The car can been seen hitting the nurse, making a U-turn, and then hitting her again, before leaving the scene. Emergency services were called to the scene immediately following the incident and the nurse was taken to a hospital, but efforts to resuscitate (急救使恢復生命跡象；施行復甦術) her were unsuccessful. Lai highlights expanded support for Taiwan athletes at Asian Games President Lai Ching-te is touting (宣揚；強調) his administration's increased support for Taiwan's athletes at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games -- saying the Ministry of Sports is "making every effort" to support them. Speaking at a flag-presentation ceremony at the Taiwan Sports Training Center in Kaohsiung, Lai touted highlighted expanded medical and rehabilitation services and increased support staffing. Lai said those increases are evidence (證據；證明) of the sports ministry's effort to provide the best possible support for Taiwan's athletes. Taiwan is sending 482 athletes to compete in 34 sports at the Games. The 2026 Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 4. US FORCES DESTROY FIVE IRANIAN OIL TANKERS AS TEHRAN RETALIATES WITH MISSILE STRIKE ON JORDAN BASE The United States Central Command has confirmed American forces destroyed five Iranian crude oil tankers linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, striking targets near Kharg Island and the port city of Jask. The strikes came in retaliation (作為報復) after Iranian forces twice targeted a US Navy warship with ballistic missiles over the past two days — attacks the Pentagon says the warship successfully evaded (躲避；避開). Iran's Revolutionary Guard has responded by launching a ballistic missile attack on the Al-Azraq air base in Jordan, saying it struck hangars housing American fighter jets. UK Flights Disrupted After Traffic Control System Malfunction A technical issue in the U.K. air traffic control system has led to the cancellation of more than 1,000 flights. That's according to flight-tracing website, Flightradar24.  Britain's National Air Traffic Services said there was a problem in its system on Tuesday that affected departing flights (出發航班). The problem was fixed but delays were expected to continue.  Fifteen airports across the U.K., including Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, reported disruptions (中斷；擾亂；運作受阻) and advised passengers to check their flight status with their airline.
