As well as debating whether Skinner is actually likeable as a character, we discuss the controversial Season 9 episode in which everything we have learnt about Skinner is turned on its head, causing uproar among those of the Simpsons faithful who like a healthy dose of realism in their cartoons. Continuing with our Season 4 arc, Ian’s second pick is Brother From The Same Planet, where Bart and Homer’s relationship is put through the wringer – with plenty of pop culture references, sight gags and the return of Phil Hartman in the best role that Tom Cruise never had. We also respond to a listener question about Simpsons episodes that pack an emotional punch and, in some cases, are downright hard to watch.
