In this episode, the original Dad's meet up to play catch up! Dan has sadly gone through a break up and apparently was told he was missing ALL of the signs that it was happening. Meanwhile, he's owed a bit of money and maybe a hug or two. While still looking for a full-time status in the job market, a trip to France for he and his daughter has long since been paid for so he makes the decision to go! Jason struggles with finding the right time to bring the entire family together for Family Pictures. Because the last time this happened, things went over swimmingly, so why wouldn't they this time? That is IF he can get everyone together in the same block of time!
Friend of the show and long time contributing podcaster Grant aka The Kilted One returns to discuss turning 50 years old. He also shares his worries for sending his kids cross country alone for the week to stay with his parents and then shares more worries about them all returning to stay for a while to celebrate his 50th birthday. Grant is aware of some of his Mom's "adult choices" like drinking and smoking a little weed, but he's never had a conversation with his kids... and he doesn't warn them before they leave to go stay with her for a week. This leads us to discuss bits about our upbringing, how different it was and how we each approch dealing with such situatuions as adults. We also discuss whether it's awkward or not to have "The Sex Talk" with our children, the ease of finding p*rn and how kids are using that as a sexual template for thier own bedroom antics. This among many side tangents, laughs and likely some personal judgements shared between each other as well!
This week I'm back with my girlfriend, Dr. Producer Kyle, to discuss a multitude of things happening in and around our lives. We start off with the big question of "How old is too old for a man to have a child?". This is response to Al Pacino, now in his 80's, fathering a child with his twenty-something year old girlfriend. Kyle brings up her love of the Earth and climate, and I confess to having ready made silly questions loaded up and ready to fire at my friend and long time collaborator, Grant a.k.a. The Kilted One. We also discuss a recent pregnancy scare that wasn't, but secretly was, unknown to us, for my children. We question whether we are the Black Sheep in our famalies, I question the purpose of podcasting for 15 years and whether I even have a legacy. Kyle encourages me to keep going and to keep writing, and I offer a scenerio where she may longer be supportive of those wild dreams upon placing eyes on a specific project.
On occassion my guest will resort to his old eating habits and shamefully eat from multiple fast food resturants in a single meal. After losing 100 pounds and living a much more healthier lifestyle, he still sometimes stuggles with his relationship with food. He also rarely admits when he goes off the rails. Well, he'll admit that he did, but most of the time he will promise to take to the grave what he actually eats when he does go on a bit of a binge. But not today. Today he opens up his mouth about opening up his mouth and pouring a shockingly amount of food into it. My guest today is my former 7 Days a Geek cohost (who is currently back on the second mic for the 7 Days a Geek "Summer Series", he's known to all as Neighbor Cole. In this episode, recorded shortly after he retired from podcasting and minutes after he and I left a local bar, we decide to return to the studio with a beer in one hand and lots of laughter into a microphone in the other. We discuss such topics as: -Watching your kid play school sports and coaching from the sidelines. -Should you show your full rage before or after moving your girlfriend in? -Missing the mic and just needing some time to get ones life in order. Rehab or something less serious? -Podtoberfest 2020 blowout between Cole and Grant -Flashback memory of early sexual discovery. Does peeing on a girl get her pregnant? Pleading the 5th is Neighbor Coles answer to this conversation. -Seeking advice for Post Urination Drip -Being embarrassed to admit how much you actually eat in one sitting. Getting multiple orders of takeout and eating and hiding some of it before returning home to have dinner with the family. -Plans for the year such as home repairs and working on blending families. As well as finding the mental capacity to be creative once again.

Dan and Jay grab a big cup of coffee and sit down for a chat about fatherhood, dealing with family illness, loss and making the "Sex Talk" comfortable for both parent and child.
Grant returns to the show to answer one question, "What has changed in the way you view the job of parenting, over the years?" Should you be completely hands on? Should you be their friend or their overlord? When exacatly can the beatings begin? Okay, that last one was just to see if you're reading this show discription! We also discuss the last time we as parents exit a phase of our childrens adolecents and how we've handled that. We miss the younger, innocent, still in need of a parent years. Having the sex talk. As a father of 5 kids, sometimes you've gotta look back at your own life to appreciate the way the future turned out. Sometimes when you do that, you might have to ridicule how easy it is you're kids now have it. In today's episode, Grant (TK1) my On Hiatus cohost, and cohost to countless podcasts that are also currently on hiatus, joins me to talk about these very things. Would your kids recognize a VHS tape? Would they survive the time it takes to rewind a tape to play thier favorite song again? Could they even work a rotery phone? Remember having a pager but not being a drug dealer? How did you access P*rn for the first time? We also discuss "Having the sex talk" with your teen. How to make it NOT awkward. How much personal knowledge should you bring into the discussion and forgetting to get to the biological part of the whole thing.
