Plenty of things compete to define you: success, family, reputation, failure, even your own past. But if the most important thing about you is whether or not you are in Christ, every other identity has to move down the list. This episode lingers over Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 1:30–31 and presses the question: what’s the big deal about being in Christ? The sermon traces how God gives believers a standing they could never earn, then asks what that standing should change about everyday life. Along the way, it confronts false confidence, shallow boasting, and the temptation to treat grace as permission to drift. If your assurance feels thin or your identity feels scattered, this message aims straight at the center.00:00 Introduction: What’s the Big Deal About Being in Christ?04:22 Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:30–3106:05 Humbly wonder at your position in Christ20:10 I want you to live like you are in Christ37:41 I want you to put your full confidence in your standing with Christ49:23 Gospel Call50:27 Closing Prayer
We assume the people who matter most are the people with influence, pedigree, and power. But the gospel confronts that instinct by showing that God saves in a way that leaves no room for human boasting.Walking through 1 Corinthians 1:26–29, this message turns our attention away from status and back to grace. It traces the kind of people God chooses, the way He overturns the world’s wisdom, and the reason He does it that way: so that all the glory belongs to Him. Along the way, it challenges the listener to stop measuring life by worldly categories and to remember that grace is not only what saves us, but what sustains us. It also presses the church outward, calling Christians to tell their story so that others hear about Christ.00:00 Introduction01:59 Scripture Reading04:02 Consider the type of people God chose to save15:34 See how God overturns the world's wisdom32:29 Never get over God's saving grace49:14 Closing Exhortation and Prayer
The world looks at Christians and sees a group of wise fools, people staking everything on a 2,000-year-old book and a Savior who died as a criminal between two thieves. And according to Scripture, that misunderstanding is not an accident.Paul tells the Corinthians that the world's failure to reason its way to God is exactly what God intended. The Jews demanded signs, the Greeks demanded wisdom, and both got a crucified Messiah instead. This message walks through why God frustrates human wisdom, what the cross exposes about every other path to God, and why the church so often falls silent in front of a world that calls the gospel moronic. If the gospel is the one thing that can pull people out of the wreck they are in, why are we standing by watching them try everything else?00:00 Introduction: Wise Fools03:03 Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:21-2506:09 Realize that God sets the terms for salvation20:20 Be grateful God wrote the gospel, not us32:53 Don't let the world skew your confidence in the gospel40:58 Communion and Closing Prayer
You want your neighbor to hear the gospel, so you round off the hard edges. Hell doesn't come up. Neither does the part where your Savior hung naked on a cross. That feels like wisdom. Paul calls it emptying the cross of its power. The Corinthians had the same instinct. They wanted Paul to dress the message up for people who prized eloquence, to give them something closer to a TED Talk. He told them he couldn't do it, and his reason runs counter to most of what we assume about persuading anyone of anything. Two errors are at play, and a sincere Christian can commit both out of love. One is about what quietly embarrasses you. The other is about what quietly impresses you.00:00 Introduction: A Shaping Experience05:03 Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:17–2007:15 You should not be ashamed of the gospel because it's God's power18:38 The gospel is effective to save the lost27:46 Don't be impressed by the world33:50 The world's wisdom is transient40:05 Closing: Spurgeon's Conversion
What tears a church apart when everyone still says they love Jesus? If you think division is something that happens somewhere else, this sermon presses you to see how quickly a healthy church can unravel when believers start fighting over people, preferences, and side issues instead of the gospel.00:00:00 A Church Undone by Division00:04:36 1 Corinthians 1:10-1700:07:25 Preserve Local Church Unity00:16:50 Unity Is Not Uniformity00:25:15 Quarreling in Corinth00:27:21 Don't Let Favorites Divide00:39:55 The Battle Worth Fighting00:41:58 The Gospel Saves00:49:17 Keep Us United

A church can be busy, growing, and full of good things, yet still needs to ask whether it is becoming what God intends. When preferences, personalities, and assumptions start to shape the answer, the deeper question comes into view: what is the church, and who gets to define it?00:00 Introduction19:03 Recognize the Church belongs to God29:16 We need to see that the church consists of Christians38:03 Realize that the church is bigger than us46:49 Closing
