In this episode, I sing a song that I wrote 8 years ago. "My life is in your hands" is based on psalm 3 . The sermon, which was originally intended as a devo, is an exploration of the name and nature of the Christian God. How do we adress him when we pray? And what kind of god is he? What does it mean that God is holy? Listen to find out!
This episode is in Danish.
What does it mean when we pray, "you who art in heaven?" The music is a cover of "When God Ran," by Phillips, Craig & Dean.
The music in this episode is a classical arrangement of the Lord's Prayer that I learned a decade ago with my Papa. A retired pastor and piano teacher, Papa would accompany me as I sang various classical worship pieces at an old folks home and at church. The devotion is about what it means to call God our Father, as in the prayer. I intend on doing a series of devotions based on the Lord's prayer, so this is the first of those!
A short intro about who I am and what the vision for this podcast is!
In this short story and message, I retell the story of "Julius" the Centurion, who Jesus encounters in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 8, verses 5 to 13. I start with a fictional narrative I've written, into which the scripture has been transposed, then I explore some of the themes that are relevant for our lives today. In this episode, I focus especially on what one might call the "3rd golden rule of Christianity": Loving the foreigner, immigrant, and enemy! The music you hear me playing on the piano in the background is Chopin's Nocturne in C# minor. You can listen to more of my music on the following site! This podcast will be a place where I share my sermons, talks, musical devotions etc. At a later time, I may invite guests. I am a Canadian living in Denmark, so my context is both Scandinavian Europe and North America. I am a singer-songwriter and musician. I study theology at Lutheran School of theology in Aarhus where I am training to become a pastor and theologian. I am happily married to Helene with a son on the way. I would describe myself as an interdenominational and ecumenical Christian. Content will be in both English and Danish. Hope you enjoy the content, any feedback is welcome!
