Christian Outdoors Podcast is owned and operated by Christian Outdoor Adventures, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit operating in Taylors, SC. In 2019, after a lot of prayer and research, founder and host, Pete Rogers launched Christian Outdoors Podcast with one drive and mission: "To talk about all things outdoors and how to enjoy God every day." Through his 25 years as an outdoor writer, author, and speaker, Pete learned that many folks in the outdoor arena were Christians without a platform to express their faith. Cable television shied away from overt or subtle mentions of Christianity. Publications were clear that no mention of God, much less Jesus, was not allowed. This left a void for many who live for Christ but who also need to make a living with their product(s). On October 1, 2019, the first episode was released with the commitment to release one episode a week for one full year and then re-evaluate. After that first year, the momentum was slow, but Pete felt that he needed to

Today is a little different as Jon shares a parable that he wrote to drive home a point that we are better off when we focus on faithfulness not significance. There are days when we all pursue something that isn't bad but at the same time sacrifice the best thing because of it. May we focus on faithfulness first. All the other stuff should come in second. Today's guest is John David Taylor III, owner of Covey Point Outfitters in Goshen, Alabama. John David is a lifelong outdoorsman whose passion for hunting started as soon as he was old enough to carry a shotgun. Instead of waiting years to chase his dream, he jumped right in after graduating high school in 2021 and founded Covey Point Outfitters. Since then, he's been building a destination where hunters from across the country can experience first-class quail, pheasant, hog, deer, and other guided hunts while enjoying genuine Southern hospitality. For John David, it's about much more than the hunt. He's passionate about creating lasting memories, building meaningful relationships with every guest who comes through the lodge, and sharing his faith by giving God the glory for every opportunity. At a young age, he's already turned a lifelong passion into a thriving family business, and today he's living out the dream he always knew was waiting for him in the outdoors. www.taurususa.com www.cva.com www.himtnjerky.com www.nukemhunting.com www.christianoutdoors.org www.citrusafe.com www.elimishieldhunt.com www.mossyoak.com
I just got back from a 10 day vacation with my family in the mountains. We hiked. We kayaked. We fished. We swam. We watched sunsets. We star gazed. We sat in front of fires. All these things declared the goodness of our God. Creation itself declares God as creator! If you wish to chat with me (Jon) about your spiritual life or wish to have me come speak at one of your events shoot me an email at jon@christianoutdoors.org. Recently instagram deactivated my page Wild Game Freaks. I would love it if you would give @wildgamefaith a follow (my new page).
Our guest today has lived a pretty incredible life and has quite a story to tell. He's a retired lieutenant from Texas law enforcement, spent time working as a private contractor supporting law enforcement, and these days he's living the life of a full-time working cowboy. On top of that, he's a husband, a father, a professional speaker, and an author. Born and raised in Texas, Sam eventually retired and made the move to Colorado, where he's enjoying ranch life while still making time for RV adventures, riding motorcycles, and hiking whenever he can. We actually came across Sam on Instagram, where he shares these honest, encouraging, and uplifting reels that really caught our attention. He's also working on a new book called The Broken Fence, and we're looking forward to hearing more about that today. So, let's not waste any more time. Please help us welcome to the show, Mr. Sam West! www.taurususa.com www.cva.com www.himtnjerky.com www.nukemhunting.com www.christianoutdoors.org www.citrusafe.com www.elimishieldhunt.com www.mossyoak.com
When Jesus says "Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest" He does so from a place of understanding as someone who experienced all the pain that comes with being fully human. He says, I get you. I see you. I love you.
In Today's show, I brought together John Weik of Northwest Spur Chasers, and Pastor Chris Taylor on Immanual Baptist Church in Glasglow, Kentucky to relive our incredible hunt for Merriam turkeys in Idaho and Washington. A few weeks ago, John invited myself and Chris to join him in Northern Idaho and Washington to hunt Merriam turkeys. This was our first time to the Northwest to hunt turkey's and the trip was incredible. I have been fortunate to hunt all across this country for many species, but as you know, turkey's are my passion. Joining John and Chris, and Tom Watson of Promise Peak podcast was arguably one of the best hunts I have ever taken. In short we bagged six birds in three days. But the hunt iteslf was amazing and incredible. We walked and walked, and called and called. Day one found us in Idaho, hearing birds gobbling at the top of a ridge. John led us on a trek that took hours to reach the top where the birds were. Winding around one corner and then the next for miles and miles. At every corner, we stopped, called and moved on. John kept saying, "they are just around the corner" we didn't know it would be 75 corners before we finally got to the birds. Chris and I doubled on the first group to show itself, and merely 100 yards later, we called in 3 more strutters and just sat and watched them for 15 minutes put on a show like I have never seen. The day ended with me taking my second Idaho bird. (All of this can be seen on John's YouTube channel - Northwest Spur Chasers) the next morning Chris got his second Idaho bird. Day three saw, us walking 13+ miles chasing birds. Listen as we relive the excitement, fatigue and laughter of turkeys, misses, and worshiping God in the great Northwest.
We talk about about being alert so that we recognize sin and Satan but what about being alert so we don't miss the blessings that God has actively poured out?
