Jayden Daniels Is Back | Week 5's Big Three: Falcons-Ravens, Bears-Packers, Bills-Rams — Afternoon Drive with the Coach Thursday 10/8/26

Coach opens with breaking news out of Washington: after dislocating his left elbow against Dallas on Sept. 20, Jayden Daniels practiced fully this week and is trending toward starting Sunday when the 1-3 Commanders host the first-place Giants (ESPN). Then it's Thursday Night Football, with Coach heading to AT&T Stadium for Buccaneers at Cowboys: CeeDee Lamb is coming off a career-best 17-catch, 189-yard day (Dallas Cowboys), and the 0-4 Bucs turn to undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels with Baker Mayfield out. Coach asks whether Tampa Bay moves on from Todd Bowles. Coach's three must-watch Week 5 games: the Ravens visit Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons on Sunday Night Football; a 3-1 Bears team with three different winning quarterbacks heads to Lambeau (Chicago Bears); and on Monday night the Bills visit Puka Nacua and the Rams (Rams). His message to Josh Allen: run the football again, or risk becoming the next Jim Kelly. Lions DC Kelvin Sheppard says outside perception is "all poison" (Newsweek); Coach answers with the points Detroit has allowed and puts Dan Campbell on his hot-seat list. Super Chats bring Drake Maye and Josh Allen's Hall of Fame case, and Coach closes on the MLB playoffs (MLB.com), a wild Tarik Skubal postgame interview and why owners should spend. Takes are Coach's own; picks are opinion and lines move. Housekeeping: Watch our interview with Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith on Fury-Joshua.
