Straight after the 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Norwich, David Mooney is joined by City fan Chris Higginbottom at the Etihad to discuss everything that happened over the last week, including some controversial moments of the 1-0 win at Old Trafford. Phil Foden's red card (and Bruno Fernandes's role in it) are a major bone of contention, but we also look at the fallout from the VAR check on Erling Haaland's goal and a few key individual performances. Simon Bajkowski from the Manchester Evening News joins us to look ahead to the upcoming match with Sunderland, plus we hear from Ant Waterson from Roker Report to find out more about their start to the season. Then the Daily Mail's Jack Gaughan subs in to discuss mentality changes and 'getting away with one'. On top of that, we also take a look at all the times in the Premier League era when City have had a player sent off at 0-0 (or worse, when losing) and have still gone on to win the game. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. Two more wins for Enzo Maresca's Manchester City mean they go into the Manchester Derby on Sunday with back-to-back clean sheets and sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table. Alongside the good results, what have the performances told us about this new-look version of the team? David Mooney is joined by Simon Bajkowski from the Manchester Evening News and Dom Farrell from Sporting News to pick through the talking points from the wins over Coventry and Porto. For the first time in a decade, City go into the Manchester Derby with a new manager in the dugout, so we take a look at the records of the previous bosses on their first time facing Manchester United. Plus, we look ahead to the Norwich game with Norwich fan Dan Greengrass. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. It's been a busy week for Manchester City. It all started with a comprehensive 4-1 win at Crystal Palace, with impressive performances from a number of players. David Mooney is joined by City fans Bob Toole and Gaz to discuss what happened at Selhurst Park, with a keen eye on Rayan Cherki, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden. Ahead of that game, it was felt that the squad was far from finished. So with late moves in the transfer window for Iliman Ndiaye, Allan and Enzo Fernandez (on top of the previous business this summer), how is it all feeling now? We take a look at one of City's busiest transfer windows. Alex Howell and Katie Wrench from the Citizens Trust speak to the show about what the new supporters' union has achieved in its first few months, while author and Porto fan Miguel Lourenço Pereira explains what City can expect in their first Champions League game. We also look ahead to what side Enzo Maresca may pick for this weekend's match with Coventry. Oh... and what were the best and worst transfer deadline days from years gone by? ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. After the last-gasp win over Bournemouth, David Mooney is joined by City fan Richard Burns and, from Sky Sports, Ben Ransom to discuss everything that happened in Enzo Maresca's first Premier League game in charge. Marc Guehi was a surprise inclusion in the midfield, while the VAR overturn in stoppage time was a welcome surprise given City's history was the video referee in the closing stages of matches. The turnaround on Sunday was the latest City have been losing a Premier League match that they've gone on to win since the famous QPR game in 2012, so Bethan Holmes takes a look at all the other times since then that the team has been behind in the final 10 minutes only to go on and win. With Crystal Palace coming up on Friday night, we hear from Eagles fan Robbie Scotcher all about their start to the season and how their preparations have gone throughout the summer. Plus, will City have any more new faces through the door by the time the game arrives (or at least before the transfer deadline passes next week)? On top of all of that, we're talking about a Haaland haircut, life inside a black hole, and City's best one-season wonders. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. After a humbling afternoon in Cardiff, David Mooney is joined by City fan Dan Burke and, from Sporting News, Dom Farrell to pick over the defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield. It wasn't really the scoreline that put the frighteners on anyone, more the manner of the loss... so what does that mean for City in the early stages of the Enzo Maresca era? As Rodri leaves for Barcelona and as it looks like there may be further midfield departures, we take a look at the shape the squad is in ahead of the match with Bournemouth. What can we expect from the opening Premier League game of the season? It was also reported this week that Rodri had refused to play for City if they didn't sanction a sale this summer... Except he didn't say that. We're taking a look at why fake news appears to be at an all time high this year. Plus, we also speak to the author and City fan Alex Timperley, whose new book 'For The Love: How Football Supporters Can Change the World' is out now. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. The Blue Moon Podcast is back for YET another season... On today's show, David Mooney is joined by City fan Ciaran Murray and by the Daily Mail's Jack Gaughan to look back over the pre-season tour of Asia for Manchester City and to discuss what's new about the Enzo Maresca era at the club. The Athletic's Sam Lee has been speaking to the players on the tour, so he's here to look at what they've said about what's different tactically. Plus, we speak to Tifo's Jon Mackenzie, whose new book "The Spectre of Pep: How Guardiola Haunts Modern Football Tactics", looks at how much City's former manager has influenced how we all see the game. We take a look ahead to the Community Shield tie with Arsenal on Sunday, plus (and we make no apologies for this) we're starting off as weirdly as we mean to go on by taking a look at all the times that City have played on the same day as a partial or total solar eclipse. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. With the sad news that the former City manager Kevin Keegan has died at the age of 75, David Mooney is joined by City fans Liam Wright and Andy MacNab to discuss his legacy at the club. After taking over in 2001, he led City to promotion from the second tier in style, setting a club record points total and equalling the record for the number of goals City had scored in a single season. In the final season at Maine Road and City's first back in the Premier League, he led the club to a ninth-placed finish and brought European football back to the blue half of Manchester, via the UEFA Fair Play league, as he oversaw the move to what's now the Etihad Stadium. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon.
