Neon Bloodbath: The 8.01 & 8.02 Anomaly (Tokyo Vampire Hotel – Episodes 8 & 9) We survived the massacre, but the weirdness is just getting started! This week on Neon Bloodbath, the Binge Buddies are back for another double feature. We’re tackling Episodes 8 and 9 together, which are bizarrely titled 8.01 and 8.02—because why would a Sion Sono show do anything the normal way? Coming off the unprecedented, blood-soaked insanity of our last double episode, the dust (and literal gallons of blood) is finally beginning to settle inside Hotel Requiem. The walls are painted red, the hotel is in absolute ruins, and Yamada’s grand apocalyptic vision is rapidly crumbling. As the surviving humans and vampires wade through the aftermath of the great war, the narrative takes an even more surreal and atmospheric turn. We discuss the strange structural choice of splitting this chapter into two parts, the shifting power dynamics among the exhausted survivors, and how the show is setting up its final endgame. Join Bryan, Matt, Ryan, and Joel as they grab their mops, step over the bodies, and try to make sense of the latest descent into madness!
