There's a woman in Luke 10 who does everything right — and Jesus tells her the thing she's avoiding is the thing she actually needs. It's nearly four years since my own divorce, and God is still teaching me that same lesson, in places I didn't expect. There's a woman in Luke 10 who does everything a good host, a good servant, a good woman "should" do — and Jesus tells her the very thing she's avoiding is the one thing that would actually heal her. In this episode, I take you into a house of my own — one without a single bed set up in it yet — and into a kitchen in Bethany, where a woman named Martha heard something she wasn't expecting either. We look at both scenes of Mary's story (Luke 10:38–42 and John 12:1–8), what it means that Christ commended the unconventional choice and corrected the conventional one, and what the Hebrew words behind "wait on the Lord" actually mean — not passivity, but the refusal to seize control. If you're a high-capacity woman who can't sit still without feeling guilty, who has mistaken busy-ness for strength, or who's been using motion to avoid the one thing God is actually inviting you into — this episode is for you. I also share more of my own ongoing lesson in this — including what perimenopause has had to teach me about strength that has nothing to do with pushing harder. If you're a high-capacity woman who can't sit still without feeling guilty, who has mistaken busy-ness for strength — this episode is for you. If this episode named something in you, I'd be so grateful if you'd leave a review on Apple Podcasts and subscribe wherever you're listening — it's one of the main ways another woman finds this show right when she needs it. 🔗 Free 7-day devotional (Roots): roots.coachkatieanne.com 🔗 Book a Rooted Clarity Call: coachkatieanne.com/call 🔗 Preorder The Faith Effect (out Oct 10) If this episode named something in you, the single most helpful thing you can do to help another woman find it is leave a review on Apple Podcasts and follow or subscribe wherever you're listening right now.
