Isaac Haile Selassie, Rasta Man from Zion

Isaac Selassie was a malnourished baby whose mother perished when he was 5 days old.  When his farmer father and aunt could no longer care for him, he was given over (along with many other “lost boys” ) to the beloved 225th Emperor of Ethiopia, Hailee Selassie. (The founder of Rastafarianism) Isaac was a teenager when the Emperor was overthrown on September 12, 1974 after 44 years in office. During the horrific ordeal, Isaac walked hundreds of miles in the blistering hot desert without food or water for days at a time to reach Sudan. It was there, he discovered Reggae music and the inspirational lyrics of Bob Marley.
