In this episode we look back at the 3-0 defeat away to Brighton on Saturday. Arsenal struggled from the off, and we try and understand why we couldn't cope with the way the opposition pressed us, and ask whether we could have dealt with things differently in terms of how we tried to play. There's analysis of the goals we conceded, where we weren't switched on enough defensively, and on more than one occasion we allowed Brighton too much time and space outside our box. We also chat about Mikel Arteta not changing anything at half-time, the substitutions he did make but at which point we were down by three goals, some chances we didn't make the most of, and how concerned we should be after our first loss of the season. There are also listener questions in part 2 about not scoring from set-pieces, David Raya conceding goals from distance, whether a fourth away game was a factor in the performance, stylistic differences between Jurrien Timber and Ben White, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode I'm joined by Ryan Hunn from Stadio to chat about Arsenal's 4-2 win over Ipswich in the Carabao Cup. We start with Max Dowman's two goal contribution, but before we get into the nuts and bolts of his performance, there's discussion of how Arsenal have to manage a 16 year old such talent and potential, then there's the good stuff, in particular his first goal. There was also another very impressive teenage performance in the shape of Marli Salmon, and we talk about the context of that display at the heart of the defence with lots of moving pieces around him. After that, we focus on some of the senior players which is a bit more of a mixed bag, with focus on Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres, and more besides. Here's today's blog on Viktor Gyokeres: https://arseblog.com/2026/09/the-gyokeres-conversations-will-continue/Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast Tim and Jamie pick over Sunday’s disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace and consider the sense of a familiar story unfolding. There is discussion about why Arsenal consistently struggle to convert chances, team selection and how it was geared towards manipulating Palace’s low block, the substitutions and how they negatively impacted the game and Tim and Jamie discuss the second consecutive omission of summer signings Reuteler and Cerci from the match day squad. In part 2, Tim and Jamie take listener questions from BlueSky.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog's award winning coverage of Arsenal Women by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode we chat about the 2-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday evening. Arsenal made first half chances for Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz which could have resulted in goals, but against a hard-working home side we struggled to find the breakthrough. We then chat about the award of their penalty, and the referee/VAR decision that was hard to accept. However, David Raya was the hero, saving Enzo Le Fee's spot-kick, before Bruno Guimaraes scored a beautiful goal at the Stadium of Light to make it 1-0. The Gunners finishing was off again, there were more chances to score which we didn't take, Sunderland had threatening moments, but in the end Bukayo Saka's penalty made it safe. We look at how well Arsenal acquitted themselves away from home (again), before taking listener questions about Mikel Arteta's comments about the penalty, where David Raya ranks in the pantheon of Arsenal goalkeepers, the managers use of subs and his technical area antics, possible changes for the Carabao Cup game on Tuesday, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode I'm joined by Phil Costa to run the rule over Arsenal's 1-0 win over Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. We chat about Mikel Arteta's rotations with four changes from the side that beat Chelsea, and how encouraging it was to see the team create so many chances against an opposition low block, something we've often struggled with in the past. We chat about the opportunities missed by the likes of Bukayo Saka, Mikel Merino and Piero Hincapie, before we turn our attention to Martin Odegaard whose overall performance was so impressive, and whose brilliant goal was decisive. We also try to gauge the low-touch involvement of our centre-forward in such a dominant performance, and where the onus lies of getting more out of him. There's also a look at some of the other Champions League action this week, and more besides.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim and Jamie run the rule over the Gunners’ opening day victory away at Brighton thanks to a great solo goal from Lisa Baum. There is discussion of Baum being trusted with a starting spot and repaying the manager with a match winning moment, thoughts on two new signings not making the matchday squad, analysis of debuts for Misa, Batlle and Georgia Stanway as well. Was this a sign that Arsenal can turn those six WSL draws from last season into victories or was variance with them on this occasion? Then in part two, Tim and Jamie field your questions from BlueSky.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog's award winning coverage of Arsenal Women by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode we chat about the 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday, starting with Arsenal falling behind early on, but reacting really well and playing the kind of football that really connects with fans. We discuss the impact of the front four, but also the way the two full backs add a lot to our forward play, even if that does leave us a bit more open than we're used to. We analyse the goals from Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard, David Raya's influence on the team, the way second half changes impacted our techincal level, as well as incidents involving Declan Rice and Morgan Rogers and Gabriel and Emi Martinez's head, before we end part one with a look at how our opening three games have gone so far. In part two we answer listener questions about potential rotation for the game against Napoli in midweek, whether Mikel Merino might be a better deputy for Kai Havertz and where that leaves Viktor Gyokeres, pace in the team, the kind of attackers we should be targetting in future transfer windows, and lots more besides. In this episode I'm joined by Charles Watts to discuss the end of the transfer window after it closed without Arsenal adding another attacker to the squad, despite high profile pursuits and the departure of players who contributed last season. How does that stack up in terms of how competitive the team will be this season, and could the club have done things differently when it came to players like Morgan Rogers, Vinicius Junior and Julian Alvarez. We also chat about the options for the left-hand side now, and what looks like a big opportunity for Eberechi Eze, as well Andrea Berta's work during this window, what some of our Premier League rivals have done, and lots more. Here's the Malick Fofana thread mentioned - https://bsky.app/profile/emmanuellaine.bsky.social/post/3muj5vjntr22dSubscribe to the Arseblog YouTube channel here - https://www.youtube.com/@ArseblogSubscribe to Charles on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@CharlesWattsAFCnews Hosted on Acast.
