In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim and Jamie analyse Arsenal’s 4-2 defeat at Manchester City on Sunday, starting with events in Paris last week and Slegers’ pre-match rallying cry. There is discussion over goalkeeper rotation, a sense of stability in Arsenal’s starting line-ups now, the failure to hold the lead on two occasions in this game, another set of substitutions that seemed to confuse the team. Tim and Jamie then discuss Renee Slegers’ future and whether it is time for a change. In part two, Tim and Jamie take listener questions from BlueSky.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog's award winning coverage of Arsenal Women by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogDownload the Arseblog app for iOS or AndroidiOS – https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arseblog/id369606006Android – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.milkbarstudios.arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this Interlull episode we begin with gunge, before talking about England scoring se7en against Croatia, with Bukayo Saka getting two of the goals. We also touch on the other Arsenal players on the scoresheet (Gyokeres and Merino for Sweden and Spain respectively), and the hamstring injury sustained by Christos Tzolis. There's also some inevitable Man City discussion as the ripples continue from the big story of the last 10 days, an Interlull conspiracy theory about a player we tried to sign, as well as listener questions about Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice getting some rest, drinking in the stands, the proposed stadium expansion plans being shelved for now, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblogDownload the Arseblog app for iOS or Android🍏 iOS – https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arseblog/id369606006🤖 Android – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.milkbarstudios.arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode I'm joined by Philippe Auclair to discuss the Premier League statement released this week in relation to Man City being found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges made against them. We discuss how strident the statement was, and how well presented the evidence is in the findings document, before we chat about coverage of this in the media, whether there might be political interference in any punishment the Premier League might dispense, and what the future holds for the club as long as the current owners are in place. We also touch on Pep Guardiola's statement, what level of sanction might be applied, how the Pandora's Box for legal action from other clubs and beyond has only just opened, the impact on fans, and lots more.Download the Arseblog apps🍏iOS - https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/arseblog/id369606006🤖Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.milkbarstudios.arseblogGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. In this episode of the Arsenal Women Arsecast, Tim and Jamie look back over Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat at Chelsea on Sunday and ask where it leaves the season, how much the issues in front of goal are tactical and how much they are psychological, and how much increased squad depth is leading to confusion and a lack of cohesion. There is analysis of the team selection, a promising opening 30 minutes, another sloppy goal conceded and substitutions that appeared to create confusion over clarity. In part two, Tim and Jamie field questions submitted on BlueSky.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog's award winning coverage of Arsenal Women by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. This episode is dominated by the biggest story in football right now, Man City being found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges that have been leveled at them by the Premier League. We discuss that verdict, the length of time the case has been ongoing, before exploring the impact their financial doping has had on the game. It doesn't just impact other clubs, but fans too pay the price for the inflationary landscape. We also discuss the possible outcome and what we think would be suitable punishment for what they have done, and the way they have damaged the Premier League and football more broadly. There are some listener questions too, touching on Mikel Arteta's connection with Man City, how the league should respond, as well as some brief Kai Havertz/Viktor Gyokeres chat, and more. In this episode I'm joined first by Clive Palmer to talk about Arsenal's opening eight games of the season, and how we feel about how they went, with the context of the recent defeat to Brighton looming over everything. We also chat about Bukayo Saka and whether there's been a tactical shift applied to his game, where we're missing something in the squad, Declan Rice's withdrawal from England duty, where we continue to go under Mikel Arteta with news that his new contract is imminent, and more. After that, I talk to Dominic Hougham, author of a new book entitled: 'The Greatest Rivalry: Arsenal, Manchester United and the Battle that Defined an Era'. We discuss those incredible years when we went head to head with them, the roles of the manager, the changing face of English football, some of the individual and team battles, and lots more – including your chance to win a copy of the book. Here's the link to the Pitch Publishing website: https://www.pitchpublishing.co.uk/shop/greatest-rivalryGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. There is also a look ahead to Tuesday night’s Champions League opener at home to HB Koge. In this episode we look back at the 3-0 defeat away to Brighton on Saturday. Arsenal struggled from the off, and we try and understand why we couldn't cope with the way the opposition pressed us, and ask whether we could have dealt with things differently in terms of how we tried to play. There's analysis of the goals we conceded, where we weren't switched on enough defensively, and on more than one occasion we allowed Brighton too much time and space outside our box. We also chat about Mikel Arteta not changing anything at half-time, the substitutions he did make but at which point we were down by three goals, some chances we didn't make the most of, and how concerned we should be after our first loss of the season. There are also listener questions in part 2 about not scoring from set-pieces, David Raya conceding goals from distance, whether a fourth away game was a factor in the performance, stylistic differences between Jurrien Timber and Ben White, and lots more.Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast.
