With her shaggy hair, black-framed glasses, tiny black lip ring, and oversized black hoodie, Bethany doesn’t look like the kind of character you would expect to find inside a traditional fairy tale—and that is precisely what makes her iconic.Upon her feet are high-top glass sneakers filled with technicolor Kingdom Sparks. They never illuminate the entire road at once; they glow just brightly enough to reveal her next glass step of faith. In her hand, Bethany carries an enchanted technicolor paintbrush that can make invisible reminders of God’s hope, promises, and Kingdom visible within even the darkest places.Traveling beside her—never behind her—is Lumin.Lumin is a white lion with deep blue eyes, an untamed shaggy mane, and a small cross written upon his left ear. Want to know a secret? Sometimes, the small cross written on Lumin's left ear can be seen on his right ear. No one knows how or why it happens- it's even a mystery to Bethany, but that is the great mystery in having faith! (1 Timothy 3:16) Lumin is also powerful, protective, curious, gentle, and occasionally a little stubborn. When Bethany rushes ahead, Lumin reminds her to slow down. When she becomes afraid to take another step, he gives her a gentle nudge. And when the darkness makes it difficult for her to see clearly, Lumin is often the first to notice a Kingdom Spark appearing in the distance.Lumin is not Bethany’s pet or sidekick. He is her trusted, loyal companion and fellow Kingdom Adventurer. And, not only is he Bethany's guardian who walks beside her, he is her very best friend!Together, Bethany and Lumin will travel beyond palace walls, through enchanted forests, across endless oceans, over distant mountains, and into animated worlds filled with familiar stories.
