Pete Schmitt was raised in an Old Colony Russian Mennonite community. At 16, he decided to leave the church. After getting involved in drugs and other destructive behaviors, Pete found himself in prison for accidentally taking another person’s life. All throughout this time, he was ignoring God’s attempts to get his attention.
