Buddhism and Identity Politics | 2023

July 3, 2026·44 min
Episode Description from the Publisher

Identity politics often revolves around the idea that people have fixed identities defined by their race, gender, religion, socio-economic standing, etc. This understanding can sometimes lead to social division and animosity. From a Buddhist point of view, however, it is a mistake. People are ever-changing, especially when one takes account of rebirth. True social harmony and brotherhood emerges from seeing identity as an ever-evolving construct without real essence.Recorded 2023-09-03-This talk by Ajahn Brahmali was recorded and made available for free distribution by the Buddhist Society of Western Australia (BWSA) under the Creative Commons license. You can support the Buddhist Society of Western Australia by pledging your support via their Ko-fi page.
