Having suffered some health issues recently, I lost my center and focus — I became focused on my suffering and my inability to take action as I had previously. With help, I was able to get out of this negative self-focused, self-referential thought pattern and recognize that the suffering itself is the teacher and the lesson. Exploring this, I was able to get a deeper understanding of Equanimity — embracing and accepting everything and everyone just as they are. Without distinction. This was something to hold on to, something I can use to start going forward again, being altruistic in all actions, words and thoughts. And taking these steps, gratitude for life and all it brings welled up in my heart.
